UNDERGRADUATE SPECIALISATION

Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)

Duration: 4 Years Intakes: Mar, Jul Fees: NZ$44,762* /year Double Degree Options

This 4-year programme, comprising a blend of theoretical and practical work, ensures career-ready upon graduation. You're require to pursue on 1 of the 9 specialisations.

The BE(Hons) is split into 4 'Parts' that correspond to your year of study.
Part I, You will be exposed to the 9 available specialisations and study a broad base of engineering and professional fundamentals.
You will also select a General Education paper – this is a distinctive feature of our University’s undergraduate programmes. General Education is designed to broaden your education. You will also have to complete an online academic integrity course.
Parts II, III and IV are customised according to the chosen specialisation. Based on the specialisation, you will study a common core of mathematical modelling, technical communication, and professional development. You will also pursue elective courses to explore the topics that interest you the most.
Practical work is an essential component of your degree. You will be required to complete a 40-hour workshop practice course in Part II, and 800 hours of practical work experience throughout your degree. Find out more about these compulsory practical components.

POSTGRADUATE SPECIALISATION

Master of Engineering (Research)

The ME is structured to help you develop a sense of independence and confidence in your ability to think critically and conduct fundamental or applied research. Regardless of your specialisation, you will engage with a stimulating mix of theory and analysis, setting you apart in your pursuit of higher-level opportunities.

Master of Engineering Studies (Taught / Research)

The MEngSt allows students with academic engineering backgrounds to expand their existing theoretical and practical skills. It is flexible – you can study either full-time or part-time, undertake either a primarily coursework or research-focused programme, and choose from sixteen distinct specialisations.

This programme ultimately requires an in-depth exploration of your chosen topic. You will demonstrate the high-quality critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are sought-after by employers worldwide. The MEngSt is also a foundation for further study.

Master of Engineering Project Management(Taught)

Duration: 12 ~ 18 Months Intakes: Mar, Jul Fees: NZ$42,814* /year

Develop your skills and credentials as a professional project manager, able to lead and direct multi-disciplinary engineering projects. This programme provides students with the in-depth knowledge and skills needed to succeed in project management in a variety of industries. Focusing on 2 key project management practices, Waterfall and Agile, this programme enables students to work towards industry-recognised professional certification.

Students will gain sound fundamentals in project management concepts and application, whilst completing a spectrum of elective courses that broaden acquisition of knowledge and skills within the engineering project management specialisation.

A project towards the end of your programme enables you to apply your theoretical skills to real-world industry projects, and consolidates your learning.
